We met friends here for dinner. My wife had eaten here before but none of the rest of us had. Staff were very attentive and helpful in picking out a drink from their taps. We ordered several appetizers including fried pickles and everything was way bigger portions than we thought which was great for sharing. I ordered the Sliced Steak Sandwich and it was delicious! It felt a little upscale in decor but still casual that we felt welcomed in jeans and hoodies because it was extremely cold. I definitely recommended given 402 a try!
We had another fabulous meal at 402 on Saturday. My husband and I went halvsies on the shorty melt and the burrito fuego. Both were super rich and absolutely delicious. I have to reiterate though that the star of the show is absolutely the truffle fries. I am a truffle fry lover, and I will boldly state that these are the best in Omaha. If you're not upgrading your fries to these, you're missing out!
Wyatt was an absolute gem of a server! Sat at the bar since it was a busy night, but enjoyed the bustling atmosphere. Wyatt even waited to take my order without asking since he could tell I had a sudden emergency to work on on my phone, so shoutout to him! The drinks I chose were quite good, and signs of a well-curated bar. The food though... I ordered the Korean stir fry and was shocked by the overly excessive amount of sauce on it. While I love flavorful food, you almost need a spoon to eat this dish. The flavors were on point, but this should probably be removed from the menu since people who order stir fry don't want to receive meat & noodle soup instead of a stir fry. However, the people around me got quite good food, so I'd be down to try another dish like their pork shoulder tacos.
We met a group of friends here before attending a Christmas party. I was having trouble making a reservation beforehand on the app so decided to call and I was helped right away by a super-friendly employee and was able to secure a spot for the time slot we needed. The restaurant itself was decorated for the holidays and had an overall great environment. We were seated at a high top table and our waitress came over immediately. She was very personable and friendly! I decided to order a Cosmo (which was pretty average) for my drink and my husband and I split two entrees amongst the two of us. We selected That Chicken Sandwich and the Shorty Melt. Both of our food choices were very good and had great flavor. The chicken sandwich wasn't that spicy (which is always a relief to me) and had a nice balance with the cheese and aioli. I decided on the truffle fries for my side and they did not disappoint! My second drink was really good but it was $13, which seemed a little high for what it was (The Jingle Ball). It had a decorative ornament atop filled with the beverage which you poured in the glass yourself. I'm glad I didn't accidentally take the ornament because our server informed us that is was a $5 charge I also found it odd that they charge $1.50 to cut a sandwich in half. Overall, 402 was pretty good and I think I'd return, especially for their all-day happy hour on Monday.
402 eat and drink has several vegetarian options and I really appreciate that! A few of their options are a butternut squash sandwich with hot honey, butternut squash flatbread, veggie quesadilla, margarita flatbread, and a Korean stirfry with tofu. I ordered their chicken lettuce wraps with tofu. Unfortunately, they did not clean the grill before they cooked the tofu and it tasted heavily of grilled meat. I also had the Korean stirfry with tofu and it was very heavily flavored. The sauce was a bit too overwhelming. Finally, I tried the butternut squash sandwich and it was delicious. The service was very good the last two nights that I ate there. Overall, I would recommend 402 eat and drink for a very good dining experience.
